Hey guys! We made it through January! Celebrate the small victories with some super fun new white wines from Europe--including a brand new 1L delight from northern Italy.
Fento Albariño $21
The Albariño grape originated here in this far NW corner of Spain, just bordering Portugal. It accounts for 90% of all wine produced in this region, as it thrives in the moist, coastal climate.
The ocean influence is what makes this wine so special, giving it bright acidity and that kiss of sea air--making it perfection with seafood. Downright pretty and evoking with a long finish.
100% Albariño from Rías Baixas, Spain
Rey Santo
From a fairly unknown region in western Spain (about 2 hours NW of Madrid), the Verdejo grape has quietly been making delicious wine for hundreds of years.
Medium bodied-yet bright, with light shades of green. In the nose, its shows fresh and lively varietal notes of sweet grapefruit and pineapple, combined with anise and fennel as well as floral aromas. Bone-dry in the palate, its medium body is coupled with a crisp, refreshing acidity that make it perfect to drink at all times.
100% Verdejo from Rueda, Spain
Tenuta di Nespolo 'Vino de Sete' Bianco 1L
“Vino da Sete” translates as “wine of thirst,” or as the French say, “vin de soif.” Straw yellow with golden accents, this textured white boasts aromas of peach, apricot, and mint. The wine echoes its bouquet on the palate with pithy yet subtle fruit, vibrant acidity, and a long saline finish. Perfect for an aperitivo, barbecue with friends, or pizza night. Serve with a chill but not ice cold.
