Beat the heat with six spectacular wines--three each of rosés and whites. A lovely southern European tour plus a delightful brand new Oregon white wine.
Chateau l'Ermite d'Auzan Rosé $14.50
Perfect French rosé- it's got just enough richness to hold up to a meal, but the ripe & tart combo of fruit with graceful minerality makes it perfect for easy breezy summer afternoons.
50% Cinsault/50% Grenache from Languedoc, France
Castillo de Jumilla Rosado $12
100% Monastrell from Jumilla, Spain
Cecilia Beretta Custoza Bianco $14
35% Trebbiano/35% Garganega/25% Cortese/10% Malvasia from Veneto, Italy
Quinta de Conte Galadoro $10
This is cheap and cheerful white wine at it's absolute best!! Totally overdelivers for the price with a great backbone of acidity and offering some nice citrus and tropical fruit notes. Perfectly 12.5% alcohol level makes it a delightful afternoon drinker.
Arinto/Fernão Pires/Moscatel/Sauvignon Blanc from Lisbon, Portugal
Ayres 'Poetica' $21
What a treat from a longtime favorite Oregon producer--a crisp and mineral forward white wine that is NOT Pinot Gris!
Pinot Blanc/Sauvignon Blanc/Auxerrois from Willamette Valley, Oregon
Casa Rossa Ile de Beaute Rosé $14
Fresh vintage of a longtime summer favorite from the island of Corsica, situated about halfway between France and Italy--it makes sense that the wines and grapes are like a perfect blend of both countries. The indigenous grape Niellucciu is guessed to be a old clone of Sangiovese that was brought to Cosica in the 13th century.
This rosé is bone dry and full of minerals and balanced acidity and just the tiniest hints of melon ond berry and a hint of salty sea air.
Light, bright, and VERY easy to drink--perfect for summer hangouts ( only 11.5% alcohol).
70% Niellucciu/ 30% Grenache from Corsica
